ROCKY MOUNT, VA — Cornerstone Building Brands, the largest manufacturer of exterior building products in North America, will invest $4.9 million to expand operations in the Town of Rocky Mount in Franklin County, creating 50 new full-time jobs at an average annual wage of $37,775 ($18.16 per hour).
The expansion will strengthen Cornerstone Building Brands’ long-standing presence in Franklin County, where it serves as the county’s largest private employer. The investment will support upgrades to the company’s manufacturing capabilities and improve operational efficiency at its Rocky Mount facility.
“This expansion confirms Cornerstone Building Brands’ longstanding confidence in our workforce, infrastructure, and community,” said Franklin County Administrator Chris Whitlow. “It reinforces that Franklin County is a great place to live, work, and do business, thanks to the vision and leadership of our Board of Supervisors, the hard work of our county staff, the dedication of our local businesses, and the support and partnership of our citizens.”
“Our Board is proud to support the expansion of Cornerstone Building Brands right here in Franklin County,” said Ronnie Thompson, Chairman of the Franklin County Board of Supervisors. “As our largest private employer, their success strengthens our local economy. This expansion means new jobs, significant investment, and greater opportunities for our citizens. It is always a good day when a Franklin County business chooses to grow here at home.”
“This expansion demonstrates the positive momentum happening in Rocky Mount,” said Town of Rocky Mount Mayor C. Holland Perdue, III. “Businesses are thriving, jobs are being created, and our community continues to move forward.”
Mike Carter, Franklin County Board of Supervisors representative for the Rocky Mount District, emphasized the company’s strong local roots. “Cornerstone Building Brands is not just the county’s largest private employer, but they are an essential part of the Rocky Mount District I represent. We have worked hard to build a strong relationship, understand their needs, and make sure Franklin County is the right place for their future. This expansion shows their confidence in Rocky Mount and Franklin County as a whole and sends a clear message to other companies that we are serious about being open for business.”
Rocky Mount Town Manager Robert J. Wood added, “We applaud Cornerstone for their continued commitment to the Rocky Mount community and look forward to their ongoing success.”
“Cornerstone Building Brands’ expansion builds on the proud manufacturing legacy of its Rocky Mount facility, which has been a cornerstone of Franklin County’s economy since 1939,” said John Hull, president and CEO of the Roanoke Regional Partnership. “The Roanoke Region is home to a strong cluster of building products companies—from windows and glass to cement and materials—that continue to innovate, invest, and create opportunity for our community.”
The Commonwealth of Virginia is supporting the project with a $100,000 state incentive, while Franklin County and the Town of Rocky Mount are providing a combined $100,000 local incentive ($66,666.67 from Franklin County and $33,333.33 from the Town of Rocky Mount).
The project represents a collaborative effort between Cornerstone Building Brands, the Virginia Economic Development Partnership, Franklin County, and the Town of Rocky Mount.
