[ARCHIVED] Franklin County Board of Supervisors Extends Real Estate Tax Deadline to June 23

Franklin County, VA – At its regularly scheduled meeting on May 20, 2025, the Franklin County Board of Supervisors voted to extend the Real Estate tax payment deadline from June 5 to June 23, 2025. This extension allows additional time for taxpayers due to a one-time delay in the billing process.

Paper tax bills are expected to arrive in mailboxes over the next week. However, Real Estate tax bills are now available online and may be paid electronically, printed for mailing, or paid in person at the Treasurer’s Office located at the Franklin County Government Center, 1255 Franklin Street, Rocky Mount.

The billing delay is directly related to a large-scale software upgrade currently being implemented in the Commissioner of the Revenue’s Office, the first such upgrade in 17 years. This modernization effort, which began in early 2024, has required extensive data conversion and verification to ensure the accuracy and integrity of taxpayer information in the new system.

A significant amount of time, effort, and attention to detail has gone into this transition. County staff have worked diligently to ensure a smooth and accurate conversion, and the Board of Supervisors appreciates the public’s patience and understanding during this important process.
