| Hi! I am a graduate of
Ferrum College, having received a BS degree majoring in Childhood
Development with a double minor in Psychology/Leisure Services and
an AA degree in Psychology. I am a mother of four and a grandmother
of one. After holding several jobs in the blue collar world while
working on my BS, I started out my professional career working for
Piedmont Community Services as an Infant Specialist, working with
developmentally delayed newborns up to 2 years of age. After 3 years
of going into homes and working with families, I saw a great deal of
women who were in need of resources to find their way out of
domestic violence situations, be it physical, mental, emotional or
even financial abuse. It became very frustrating for me to just
refer these families to services, but not be able to work with
them through the process of finding a healthier lifestyle. It was
time I became an Advocate for victims, and the person of voice
for those who couldn’t find one. Now here I am still loving every
minute of my job, my labor of love, my passion for life being passed
onto others so they may see they are special and are worthy of
being loved and treated with respect! |

Name: Katrina L. Hancock
Position: Case Manager
Years of Service: 12
E-mail: katrinahancock@franklincountyva.org
Office: (540) 483-5088 ext. 2407 |
| I started my tenure here by volunteering to assist in the office, only later to be offered the part-time position of Secretary. I worked as the Secretary for about 2 years when my position went full-time. I held the position for a total of 7 years. At that point a position came open; I applied and was hired as the new Case Manager! Since that time, I have enjoyed working with the clients that I encounter at the shelter and in the community. It is my hope each time I come in contact with someone in need that they will see my compassion to help and to empower them. It is also my hope to make the community at large aware of the impact of domestic violence and homelessness in Franklin County. |

Office: (540) 483-5088 ext. 2408 |
| I began volunteering at the center in 1997 and became a Night Shelter Manager in 2005. I remained in this position for 2 years, until the opportunity presented itself for me to apply and successfully obtain a position of Case Manager, which I have held for the past year. I have a purpose and a passion for being here - helping people. Once being a victim of domestic violence, I can now say that through strength, courage and wisdom, I am now a VICTOR. I facilitate a weekly women's support group meeting on Mondays at 6:00pm. There is power in loving and respecting yourself.

| I am a proud graduate of Ferrum College, having received and Bachelor of Science Degree, and of PHCC, having received an Associate Degree in Applied Studies with Honors 20 years later. My compassion for people, and especially children, has lead the way in finding my career opportunities. The 3 years prior to taking my position with FRC, I worked as a Home Base Educator in Franklin County under the TAP organization, and also enjoyed substitute teaching. September 4, 2007 I was blessed with my current position of NSM/CIW and am glad to be employed by the County of Franklin where I have lived all my life.
